The Play That Goes Wrong. To be honest, when I first heard a description, I wasn’t sure how I would like it. I had heard it’s in the style of British BBC comedy (think Monty Python). Now normally I’m not a fan of comedies. I can count on one hand the number of comedies I’ve seen that I’ve actually enjoyed. However, I am delighted to add this one to that list. Right from the start, the actors all knew how to play off of the audience & improvise scenes beautifully, while occasionally trying to get each other to break character. The set design was incredible, the story within a story was gold, & I was lucky enough to get to chat with one of the actors afterwards. It is certainly a show I’d love to see again (but is probably far too detailed for community theatres to do). If you like comedies or British humor, you’ll love it. It’s a show I’d certainly recommend to everyone, including those not particularly interested in theatre.
