To be frank, I’ve never liked this show. So going into this, I was interested to see how it’s changed—this production was known to flip the story but keep the original material. The band & music styling is a mix of bluegrass/country. I’m just not a fan. The characters were represented as much more human than the old “leading man/lady” “comedic relief”, etc. It did show a lot more humanity in the character of Jud, which was my favorite aspect of the show. Still, this show seemed to stretch on forever, which was unnecessary & didn’t add to the story. My least favorite show of this trip.

(I’ve been Ado Annie in a production of this, so I know the work well. It’s just not my cup of tea.)
